FORT OGLETHORPE, GA - Bettye Jean Axmacher Alexander, 87, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012.

She was a lifelong resident of Fort Oglethorpe, GA and was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church, Rossville, GA.

Bettye helped her husband, Bill Alexander as owner/operator of Hemlock Pharmacy on Main St., Chattanooga, TN, for many years and was a lifelong member of VFW Post #3679 Ladies Auxiliary.

Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Alexander; parents, Earl Ace and Mildred Marie Gray Axmacher; children, William "Billy" Alexander, James "Jim" Alexander and David Alexander; and brother, Earl Axmacher Jr

She is survived by her daughter, Janet M. (Jim) Nance of Chickamauga, GA; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012, in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Dwight Deal and Brother Lee Griggs officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. today, all day on Sunday and prior to the service on Monday.
