Lela, 77 of Battle Creek, died December 14, 2012 at home. She was born to Delmar and Maxine (Jones) Gebert.

Sharon graduated from Ball State University in 1958 and continued her education at Kellogg Community College and Western Michigan University. Sharon was a teacher in the Battle Creek and Lakeview Schools. She retired in 1996 from Harper Creek Schools where she taught developmentally disabled adults.

In 1983 she was appointed Volunteer Coordinator of the Volunteer Bureau/Volunteer Action Center, and in 1985 she became Director of the Literary Council of Calhoun County.

She was a member of The First Congregational Church, Battle Creek Country Club, and the Junior League of Battle Creek.

Sharon enjoyed family events, especially activities involving her grandchildren. Other hobbies included hosting parties for family and friends, and scrapbooking.

In 1960 Sharon married Robert Wilson Jr. He survives. Also surviving are sons, Robert (Pamela) Wilson III, of Battle Creek, Jeffrey (Charlene) Wilson, of South Haven, Kenneth (Jennifer) Wilson, of Battle Creek; daughter, Nancy Ward, of Chicago; seven grandchildren; brother, Allen Gebert of Etna Green, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Gebert; sister, Diane Hensley.

Funeral services took place Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Shaw Funeral Home, Rev. Thomas Ryberg officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Battle Creek Community Foundation, General Fund, Battle Creek, MI.
