Inscription
He emigrated to this state in the year 1790 and during the Indian hostilities in Ohio, he volunteered to repel them. He was one of the delegates who formed the present constitution & was for many years a member of the State Legislature.
In the late war with England he volunteered and raised a regiment and marched with it to defend our Northern Territories. He was in the Battle of Fort Meigs on the 5th of May 1813.
After his return home he returned to private life, died in the 77th year of his age and left a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn his life.
