Richard Thomas Goodhue Sr., 77, of East Waterboro, died Monday at a Scarborough nursing home following a long illness.

He was born in Richmond, VT, July 1, 1899, son of Napoleon and Mina King Goodhue, and had lived in East Waterboro since 1942. He previously resided in Berwick.

Mr. Goodhue was employed for many years in the Goodall-Sanford textile mills and for ten years, was a ship's carpenter at the A. G. Frost Boat Yard, Scarborough, prior to retiring in 1969. He was a member of the East Waterboro Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, Richard T. Jr. of Limerick, Donald L. of Addison, NH, Clayton E. of Kingston, NH, and Gordon F. of Atkinson; two daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Natalie) Glover of Saugerties, NY and Mrs. Merrill (Judith) Taylor of Sterling Park, VA; a brother, Robert of Vermont; 21 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Heald Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Springvale. The Rev. Chandler M. Holmes, pastor of the North Waterboro Community Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery, South Waterboro.
