Alta Marie Brown was born to George D. and Lurlie Tarvin Davis on March 28, 1918, in Perryville, Arkansas. She moved with her family, at age ten, to Mobeetie, and a short time later moved to Shamrock, She married Beauford W. Brown on May 4, 1934 at Sayre, Oklahoma. They owned and operated a farm, east of Shamrock, for many years. Mrs. Brown had worked for several years as a dispatcher in Shamrock, and in retail sales, and was a member of the Shamrock Eastern Star. She moved to Amarillo in 1974 where she also worked in retail sales, was a member of Southlawn Baptist Church and a former member of Amarillo Senior Citizens. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of several bridge clubs until her eyesight began to fail. Mrs. Brown loved gardening, especially working with flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 18, 1974.
She is survived by two daughters, three grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister.
