COKER, Ray Alton
Passed away on Monday, July 18, 2005, in Auburn at age 93. Born in Mississippi March 10, 1912. Survived by Aliene, his loving wife of 67 years, son Robert, grandchildren Alan Coker and Sandra Raeside, and great-granddaughters Paula and Shawna Raeside. He was a loving husband and father. He moved to Chicago where he met and married Aliene. During WWII he served in the Merchant Marines. After the war the family moved to California where he and his brother Bernard started a floor covering business in Roseville. A few years later he built a home and lived in Citrus Heights and began his career as a Correctional Officer at Folsom prison. In 1966 he moved to Folsom where he and Aliene resided until both suffered strokes in November 2004. He was a 32nd degree Mason. His favorite outdoor activities were camping, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed fixing things and could often be found in his garage repairing something. The funeral service will be held on Friday July 22, at 12:00 pm. at Mt Vernon in Fair Oaks.
