Mrs Boyd was a graduate of Lynchburg College and taught at various elementary schools for several years. She also attended Radford University and received her Master's Degree in Educational Media in 1981. She then spent thirteen years on the staff at McConnell Library.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Rev. John Kearfott Boyd, Sr. of Lynchburg. Daughter and husband, Anne Boyd Simmerman and Don Simmerman of Pulaski. Sons and wives, David H.B.Boyd and Susan Boyd of Forest, VA. William S. Boyd and Fran Boyd of Pulaski. John K, Boyd, Jr. of West Virginia. Grandchildren, Rachel Simmerman, Hunter Boyd, Taylor Boyd, Jordan Farmer, Sydney Boyd, Matthew Boyd and Chelsea Turner Great Grandchild, Gavin Farmer. Sister, Mary Ann DeHaven of Roanoke. Brother and wife, William Hunter Bassett, Jr. and Nancy Bassett of Morristown, TN. Several nieces and nephews. The Family will receive friends at the New Dublin Presbyterian Church, Dublin, VA on Friday evening, Dec. 14th from 6-8pm. A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1pm from the New Dublin Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Andrew Taylor-Troutman and Rev. Frank Clark officiating. Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
There will be a reception Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm at the home of David and Susan Boyd for those wishing to pay their respects in Lynchburg. The Family would like to express their gratitude to the Warm Hearth Village (Showalter), Heritage Green and Seven Hills Hospice for the kindness and caring shown to our family.
