We are writing to let you know that a Find A Grave volunteer has reported a problem with your photo request for James Griggs. Cemetery office has no record of this person
They also reported, specifically:
The cemetery manager and I discussed this at length, and he went through his records several times. This individual died one year before this cemetery was established, and he is not buried there. His son and daughter-in-law are buried there, but the first burial at Wilder occurred in 1915. Mr. Griggs died in 1914.
The cemetery manager says that he also checked the records for Fargo Pioneer Cemetery, which he also manages, and Mr. Griggs is also not there. That cemetery is older than the one at Wilder. There are a number of older small cemeteries in the general area, where he might also be. Some are Roswell, Parma, Knowlton Heights, and Peaceful Valley.
I have the interment list for Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell. Mr. Griggs is not on it.
Since there is a death certificate listed for Mr. Griggs in his memorial, the cemetery manager advises checking with the Canyon County Hall of Records to see whether there is any mention of a burial site. Another possibility is checking with the Idaho Historical Library for an obituary. Those usually say where there will be a burial.
If the requester has any information which would help, I will still be delighted to go take the picture. But I will need further information on the location of the grave.
