Funeral services for Mr. Freddie Lavon Collins, age 64, will be held today at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, with Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Collins died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Madison County to the late Fred Oliver Collins and Vesta Pearl Williams Collins, and was educated in the county schools. Mr. Collins retired from International Paper Co. as a baylor after twenty years of service. Mr. Collins was a member of Bemis First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Myra McRae Collins; step-granddaughter, Madison Cooper; step-son, Bradley Scroggins, both of Jackson; brother, Gerald Collins of Meadon, TN; five sisters, Wanda Grady of Cedar Grove, Connie Cottner of Bemis, Rita McHugh of Illinois, Gwen Wilson of Bemis, Tina Ozment of Lobleville, TN; half-sister, Sue Swingle of Maryland.
Vistation with the Collins family will be held today from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, (731) 424-2424.
