Ed married Ethel Marie Heerkes on July 19, 1946, and they spent the next 59 years together at their home at 101 Eldene Ct. in Evansdale. They had one son, Robert Keith Myers.

Ed graduated from West High School and then went to work for the Rath Packing Company in Waterloo. He retired from Rath's in 1981 after 42 years of service as a clerk.
One of Ed's proudest times was spent serving his country during World War II. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corp in 1942 and served until honorably discharged in 1945. He was extremely patriotic and very proud to be a veteran.
