Dr. Mark A. Brawley was born in the
vicinity of Cincinnati, Ohio on July 1
1849, and passed away from this life
on June 15, 1922 at Frankfort, Kansas
at the age of 72 years, 11 months and
14 days.

When the Civil War broke out he heard
the call of his country, although but 14
years of age, and enlisted. He re-enlisted
and endured the hardships of a good
solider, serving in the division of General
Lew Wallace. After receiving his honorable
discharge he came home to stay but a short
time when he entered Farmers College at
College Hill, Ohio. Later he studied
medicine at the Ohio Medical College and
graduated in 1872. He practiced medicine
first in the state of Minnesota and then for
a short time in Topeka, Kansas.

In 1884 he was married to Miss Anna C.
Cassidy. They located in Frankfort, Kansas
where they have since resided.

To this union was born two children, Dr.
Mark Brawley Jr. and Anna M. Brawley,
who resides at home. He is also survived
by an older brother who resides in Cincinn-
ati, Ohio.

Dr. Bawley was a member of the Modern
Woodman, Masonic Lodge, the Shriners
and the Commandery. Her is also a member
of the County, State and Southwestern
Medical Association and the National
American Medical Association.

He practiced medicine for half a century,
and for nearly forty years as a physician
in Frankfort and the community.

Funeral services were conducted by the
Reverend E.H. Knepp at the Presbyterian
Church. A male quartet sang two beautiful

Interment was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
