James Melvin Fenhagen, age 93, of Fallston, MD, passed away on December 9, 2012 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD.

Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late George Howard and Lillie Belle Follin Fenhagen and husband of the late Helen Dorothy Keating Fenhagen.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he retired after 31 years as a firefighter with Baltimore City. He worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Fire Safety Prevention and was a member of the Bel Air Knights of Columbus, Fire Fighters Association of Baltimore and the International Association of U.S.S. LCS (L) I-130 in Littleton, CO.

Mr. Fenhagen is survived by his daughter, Mary Deen Kanely and longtime friend, George A. Marll, of Bel Air; sister, Virginia Viola Freiert of Columbia, MD; grandchildren, James Todd Kanely and wife, Toni, of Joppa, Kimberly S. Bearsch of Fallston and Wendy T. Kanely of Bel Air; and great-grandchildren, Karen, Sarah, Zane, Nate and Matilda. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, William H. Fenhagen.

Visitation will be held at McComas Funeral Home, P.A. in Abingdon, MD on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with an 8 p.m. Wake Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mark Catholic Church in Fallston on Friday, December 14 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Highview Memorial Gardens in Fallston.
