James A Briscoe, 81, whose home was North Corporation Road, Route 3, died Saturday at 10 a.m. September 1, 1955, after a long illness. Funeral service were held Tuesday at Haverly Mortuary, with the Re. Otto T. Duncan officiating. Mr. was a native of Washington County, born there January 23, 1874 to Joseph & Mary Jane Legg Briscoe. He was first married in 1897 to Miss Cora Bush, who preceded him in death in 1932. He was later married to Mrs. Myrtle Novak, who survives.
Mr. Briscoe was a farmer and also operated a grocery store in Mitchell for a number of years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church.
Other survivors are there sons, Fred, Ora and Harold, a brother William and a sister Maude Porter, both of Mitchell, a stepson, Harold Novak of Los Angeles, California.
