Antrim native a carpenter for ConVal School District
ANTRIM - Merle L. Aborn Jr., 68, of Antrim, died Aug. 22, 2001, at Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough.
Born in Franklin, he was the son of Merle Sr., and Georgina (Kelly) Aborn.
A resident of Antrim most of his life, he was a 1951 graduate of Antrim High School.
He was a carpenter for the ConVal School District for many years before his retirement.
A U.S. Army veteran who served 1953-1955, he was a member of Myers-Prescott-Olsen American Legion Post 50 in Antrim.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Antrim.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Scottie" (Saville) Aborn of Antrim; two sons, Michael Aborn and James Aborn, both of Antrim; two stepsons, William Greenwood of Peterborough and Roderick Greenwood of Concord; a daughter, Crystal Patten of Antrim; a stepdaughter, Cathleen Johnson of North Hampton; a sister, Merlene Murray of Antrim; 17 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Donald Aborn, died earlier.
A memorial service was Saturday at the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home, Hillsborough. The Rev. Norman DePuy officiated.
Burial was at the convenience of the family.
