Services for Richard J. Dierks, 42, of Blair will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Country Bible Church.

Pastor Dan Hauge and Pastor Gene Lee will officiate. Burial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery in Kennard. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Bennington American Legion.

Pallbearers will be Dave Humphrey, Don Morland, Lynn Pruess, John Seburg, Roger Timperley, James Thompson, Reggie Yates and Jean Gregerson.

Dierks died April 11 in Creston, Iowa, at Great Community Hospital following a construction accident.

He was born February 25, 1945, in Omaha to Marvin and Lafern (Nelson) Dierks, and grew up on a farm near Bennington.

He graduated from Bennington High School. From 1965-1969, he served with the United States Navy in Viet Nam. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Presidential Unit Citation for his efforts in the war.

On March 25, 1967, he married Nancy Allberry in Omaha.

Upon returning from the service in 1969, he farmed in the Bennington area until moving to Blair in 1978, when he began work for Fort Calhoun Stone Quarry.

He was a member of the Bennington American Legion and the Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include wife Nancy, daughters Heidi and Karen, and son Matthew, all of Blair; parents Marvin and Lafern Dierks of Fremont; grandmothers Mrs. Mabel Nelson of Blair and Mrs. John Dierks of Bennington, and brothers, Douglas Dierks of Kennard and Tom Dierks of Bennington.
