Catherine (Hackner) Hines, departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, 11:10 a.m., surrounded by loving family members as she made her transition to Eternal Life, at her home of 50 years. Born May 31, 1928, in Evansville, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Alonzo and Elnora Hackner.
Catherine received her education in Evansville and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947.

A devoted wife of 64 years, she met her late husband, Alphonso in Evansville in 1947. Then moved to Marion, and finally Fort Wayne, where she led a fulfilled family and work life.

She leaves to cherish her memory seven sons, Alvin (Donna), Michael (Debra), Glynn (Pamela), Tyrone (Earlene), Anthony, Danny, and Timothy (Linda); one daughter, Terri Farr; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Louella Dixon of Michigan City, Ind., Jacqueline (Robert) Farmer and Ruby Lockett of Evansville; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 715 E. Wallace St., with visitation one hour prior.
Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
