Mr. Brown worked for the State Highway Department from 1928 to 1954, when he retired. He then, with his brother, purchased Boeckel's Landing along the Susquehanna River. When his brother, Donald, died in 1960, Mr. Brown carried on the business until 1966, when he sold the business to the present owners who renamed it, Little Bear Marina.
Mr. Brown was a son of the late William D. and Ocheyana (Walker) Brown of Hunterstown.
He was a member of Hanover Home Association and New Oxford Methodist Church. He also belonged to: the Eagles at Hanover; the Moose of Gettysburg; the Hunterstown Gun Club; the Hebron Lodge of Masons of New Oxford and the Consistory at Harrisburg.
Surviving besides his wife, are three children: Arthur Brown of Mohnton, Pa.; Mrs. Charles Gale of Mt. Holly, N.J.; and Mrs. Robert Ditchburn of Gettysburg; a sister: Mrs. Edward Watson of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services held at the Peters Funeral Home, with the Rev. Amos D. Myers officiating. Interment will be in The Pines Church Cemetery, near New Chester.
