Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

He was the son of Clare F. and Gertrude "Peg" Burden.

Lt Col Burden was a distinguished United States Air Force pilot from 1942 to his retirement in 1973. He served gallantly in WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. He was awarded several medals, most notably the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Clusters as well as Three Presidential Citations for heroism. Among his many career accomplishments, he was the Site Commander that fired the first Titan II missile from North America.

A longtime resident of Yuba City, California, Bob lived the last four years in Woodland, California with his family.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and John Christensen of Rockfort, Michigan. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in- law, Jim and Ginger Burden of Woodland, California; his daughter-in-law Lois Burden of Katy, Texas; his daughter Barbara Burden of Hawaii; and five granddaughters: Jessica Burden, Melissa Thomas, Elizabeth and Jennifer Burden, and Sarah Eicher.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Jean Burden; his parents, his sister, Patricia Eddy, and his sons, Robert Clare Burden and Michael Jon Burden.
