Frank L. Spooner, 92, a retired Kellogg area farmer, died early Wednesday morning,August 7, 1985, at his home. He was born May 1, 1893, in Durand, Wisconsin to Avery and
Serelda Moore Spooner, and on August 5, 1913, was married to Marie Schurhammer in Wabasha, Minnesota. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary last Monday.

Following their marriage, they farmed in the Kellogg area for five years, and then for 20 years near Nelson, WI, before retiring to rural Kellogg. During World War II, they worked in a Seattle,Washington shipyard for two years. From 1945 until 1961, they farmed in Glasgow Township, Wabasha County, and then in Greenfield Township, Wabasha County, until retiring and moving into town in 1977.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Margaret Leonard, Gardena, California and Mrs. Russell (Dorothy) McConough, Nelson; a son, Joy, Kellogg; six grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; two brothers, Robert, Stillwater, Minnesota, and Norman, St. Paul; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Ristow, Alma, Wisconsin, Mrs. William (Margaret) Brunkow, Nelson, and Mrs. Oral Timm., Roseville, Minnesota. A daughter, a brother and four sisters have died.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 9, 1985, at the Buckman-Schierts Funeral Home, Wabasha, with the Rev. Ramon Olson of the United Methodist Church, Kellogg, officiating. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Those who served as casket bearers were, Charles and Avery Spooner, Terrel and Michael McDonough, Daniel, Aaron and Joshua Larson.
