Staff Sgt. Wesley R. Williams, 25, of New Carlisle, Ohio, died Dec. 10 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, under control of the 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
He was born in Killeen, Texas the son of Lars & Linda (Sparks) Williams. He was a 2005 graduate of Tecumseh High School. Wes served two tours in Iraq and deployed November 15 to Afghanistan as a squad leader. He is survived by his wife, Krista Williams; a daughter, Faith Williams and baby Williams due in July; his parents; two sisters, Amber & Hannah; and a brother, Austin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Friday, December 21, 2012 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral services will be private.
