Funeral services for Lonnie L. Sharp, 68, of Dickens were held Thursday at 2 p.m. January 19, 1978 at the First Baptist Church in Dickens. Rev. E.L. Atkinson, pastor, officiated assisted by Rev. Robert Fields of Amarillo.

Mr. Sharp died suddenly at his home at 12:30 a.m. January 18, 1975. He died of an apparent heart attack, after being in ill health for some time.

Mr. Sharp was born in Vandervort, Arkansas, and moved to Turkey, Texas in 1919. He moved to Dickens County in 1930 where he has resided since that time. He was a retired farmer and veteran of World War II, seeing overseas duty in England.

Mr. Sharp married Lillian Hale Byrd in 1948 at Dickens. Survivors include his wife, Dickens; one daughter, Janice Lynn Flanagan; one step-daughter, Charlotte Adams of Dickens; two step-sons, Bobbie Joe and Carroll Byrd of McAllen; one sister, Opal Sharp of Spur; two grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Richard Varnell, Wright Martin, Sam Porter, Bob Porter, Tom Bateman and Barney Bridge.

Interment was in Afton Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.
