91, widow of Robert L. Simpson passed away Dec 9, 2012. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late William A. And Minnie Chilton Hawkins. Nellie was a 1938 graduate of Lawrenceburg City High School. She became co-owner with her sister of Hawkins Grocery. She later was employed by KY State Government and retired after 20 years. She was a member of the Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church and was the inspiration behind the creation of the church's Robert L. Simpson Life Center. She was also a member of the Anderson County Historical Society and the Humane Society. Survivors include a brother Wilton A. Hawkins of Montclair, NJ; a niece Patricia and Richard Pantoja; and a nephew David and Janette Carter of San Jose, CA; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Jean Willhoite. She was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy H. Houchin and a sister-in-law Thelma (Teddy) Hawkins. Funeral services will be held 11am Friday, Dec. 14th at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Gibbons, Rev. Karen Stigal and Al Peach officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 47pm Thursday, Dec 13th. Pallbearers will be Brent Hawkins, George Kinne, Todd Hyatt, David Mountjoy, Bobby Shryock, Mike Shryock, and Steve Freeman. Honorary bearers will be Dave and Brenda Disponett, Louis and Nita Shryock, Lois Ann and Anna Marie Hyatt, and Jean Willhoite.
