DAVENPORT - George D. Monty Jr., age 84, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, May 29 at the Davenport Lutheran Home. Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Chapel, St. Ambrose University, Davenport, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. Visitation will be today (Monday) from 4 - 7 p.m. at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. The Davenport American Legion will conduct military rites. George D'sire Monty, Jr. was born July 2, 1923, in Salina, Kansas, a son of George D'sire Monty Sr. and Lula (Savoie) Monty. George proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater in WWII. George was united in marriage to Marie M. Karber April 30, 1949, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, Kansas. They celebrated 59 years of marriage last month.
