Lawrence Amos Fawcett was born 21 November 1919 in Buhl, Twin Falls, Idaho to Amos William Fawcett and Theresa Ellen Gengler Fawcett.

Lawrence grew up in the Buhl area and was an avid fisherman and hunter all his life. His catches included a 11-pound and a 8-pound Rainbow trout caught at Salmon reservoir. He also caught a very large sturgeon in Snake river.

Lawrence enlisted in the US Army January 1943 and served in Dutch East Indies and the Pacific areas. He was employed by the City of Buhl rising to Service Supervisor and served on the Buhl City Council.

He married Pauline Dorothy Meyer on 18 December 1946. They had three children.
