Dobson- At her home in South Wayne, on Thursday, July 20, 1905, of cancer, Mary A. Dobson, aged 34 years, 5 months and 12 days.
Mary A. Mayhew was born at South Wayne on Feb. 8, 1871, and here she grew to womanhood and spent the greater portion of her life. On August 16th, 1893, she was married to Edward Dobson, and to them five children were born, three of whom died in infancy. Although for some time a sufferer, and for nearly three months past confined to her bed, she has ever shown the noble trait, characteristic throughout her life, of strong devotion to home and children, constant planning and looking after the welfare of others, with little thought of self.
A husband, two children, four brothers and four sisters are left to miss and mourn her most, besides the many lifetime friends who keenly feel her loss.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, July 22nd, at one o'clock, at the Free Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Mrs. M.J. Jewett of Oakfield, Wis., assisted by Rev. R.W. Nicholas of South Wayne.
The interment was at Eastman Cemetery, almost a stone's throw of where she was born.
Music was rendered by Mr. And Mrs. E.W. Voss, Miss Belle Arnott and P.M. Peterson of South Wayne, and J.M. and T.H. King of Darlington.
Relatives and friends from a distance who were present at the funeral were: Mesdames Thomas Agur, Charles Bottomley, Wilbur Huntington, George Hobbs, and Messrs. J.M. and T.H. King, Misses Nell Ryan and Katie McCoy of Darlington, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Roberts of Fayette, Mr. And Mrs. Francis Mayhew and Mrs. Owen Raymer of Browntown, W.E. Mayhew and wife of Eagle, Mrs. F.E. Pease of Reedsburg, Wm. Hough of Waukesha, Mrs. John Hough of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Edgar Phillips of Neodesha, Kans.
