AGED RESIDENT OF EDINBURG EXIRES
Edinburg, July 12- With the death of Allen Oaks, aged veteran of the civil war, and a former resident of Edinburg, passes away one of the men who knew more of the early days of Edinburg than possibly any other. Mr. Oaks died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gus Furleman, in Shelbyville, Saturday afternoon. Past the age of 90, he has often told of the days when Edinburg was just a settlement on the stagecoach line from Madison to the new settlement at Indianapolis. He recalled to memory the first substantial homes built here and could always bring some humorous incident into his stories which made them doubly interesting. He made his home in Edinburg until he moved to Shelbyville two years ago.
