Warren Joseph "Joe" Cunningham, 84, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Fountain West Health Care Center.
Joe was born January 13, 1928 in Des Moines, the son of Russell and Elizabeth Cunningham. Joe was drafted in the US Army as a senior at Roosevelt High School and served during the Korean Conflict. On November 22, 1952 he was united in marriage to Dolores "Dee" Nellis and they had four children. Joe was a self employed construction/grading contractor for 45 years in the Des Moines area.
Joe was an avid fisherman, hunter and country western musician and music fan.
Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dee; children, Cristy (Gary Grace) Cunningham, Jeffrey Cunningham and David Cunningham; four grandchildren, Caleb (Jackie)Frost, Jared Frost, Jordan Cunningham and Jacob Cunningham; three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Grayson and Blake Frost; sister, Norma (Bill) Buck; son-in-law, Jimmy Frost; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Merri Jo Frost.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, December 10, 2012 at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
