This biography is written by Brenda, daughter of Louie Edward Neighbors.

Louie was the son of Delmon Daniel Neighbors (B: 06-Aug-1887, D: 27-Dec-1963) and Charity Josephine Anderson (B: 06-Apr-1890, D: 27-Dec-1976) both of whom died in Saline County, Illinois.

Louie married Madeline Chloe Hull on 02-Jul-1938 in Dixon, Kentucky. They had 7 children together: Alberta Rose (B: 07-Jun-1939, D: 11-Feb-1998), Mary Ann (B: 05-Feb-1942), Donna Joyce (B: 17-Apr-1943), Gary (B:& D: Abt. 1946 (stillborn), James Edward (B: 24-Jan-1947), Brenda Sue (B: 23-Jan-1949), Judy Ellen (B: 15-Jan-1951).

Louie was inducted into the United States Army during WWII. He entered active duty on 21-Jun-1944 at Ind. Station Fort Sheridan, Illinois. He participated in the Battle of Ardennes Rineland G033 WD45 (Battle Of The Bulge). He was reported "Missing In Action" during this battle. It was later revealed that he was a Prisoner Of War from 29-Jan-1945 thru 27-Mar-1945. He was in Company C 134th Infantry Regiment. When the American armies came in and liberated the prisoners of war Louie was sent to a Paris hospital. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. His Discharge papers also state that he received EAME-Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars; Good Conduct Medal; Victory Ribbon; and 1 Overseas Service Bar for his military service. Louie's date of separation was on 24-Nov-1945 from Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Louie's military records were lost in a fire in 1971 in Missouri. However, I was able to document the above via his discharge papers obtained from Saline County, Illinois. His experiences during the war had a lifelong effect on him.

He worked at Pontiac Motors in Pontiac, Michigan. He was an inspector for many years until his early retirement due to ill health. Louie died at the early age of 52 years.
