Prominent Sheep and Cattle Rancher

Peter Engel, 88, prominent sheep and cattle rancher of Fremont county, and a pioneer of the industry in East Idaho, died Sunday night at the home of his son, William Enget in St. Anthony.

Mr. Enget was born February 5, 1862, at Oslo Norway. He came to the Island Park country with his family in 1898, where he homesteaded land for a cattle and sheep operation. In early days of the cattle industry in East Idaho, Mr. Enget's advice was sought by ranchers throughout the district. He is credited with pioneering the cattle industry in the area.

He retired in 1935 because of ill health.

He was married in 1885 to Lily Peterson in Minnesota. three children born to this union, two of who preceded him in death. The only survivor is his son William Enget of St. Anthony. Mrs. Enget died several years ago.

Three grandchildren and two brothers Joseph Enget of Detroit Lake, Minn., and Karl Enget of Audubon, Minn., also survive.

Funeral services will be held at the Community church in St. Anthony Wednesday at 2 pm.. Burial will be at Pineview Cemetery at Ashton.
