FROM- The San Angelo Standard Newspaper dated Monday, June 16, 1980 - HOLIMAN - MCALLEN - Dan Holiman of McAllen and brother of San Angeloans, died Saturday in Valley Grande in Welasco. Services will be in St. Marks United Methodist Church in McAllen. Burial will be in McAllen.

Holiman was the son of Irion pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Holiman. He was born June 11 1904, in Brownsboro. The family moved to Irion County when he was 6 months old. He attended school in Arden, west of San angelo, and worked on his parents farm there. He was a veteran of World War II, joining the Army in 1942. He subsequently worked at Goodfellow Air Force Base.

He was married to Alicia L. Yarrington of Eagle Pass on Nov. 10, 1945, in San Angelo. He served on the Border Patrol from Jan 4, 1945 to Dec 22, 1973.

Survivors include his wife of McAllen, two daughters, Mrs. W.D. (Ella Louise) Harris of Jakarta, Indonesia and Mrs. B.A. (Dana Alyce) Hensley of Seattle; two grandchildren, both of Jakarta; one brother, Joe Holiman of San Angelo; one sister, Florence Cate of San Angelo and numerous niecec and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, two half brothers and one half sister.

Pallbearers include Alvin Todd, R.L. St. Clair, Tom Ball, C.C. Hensley, Dennis Brauen and Buddy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be from the U.S. Border Patrol and also Phil Brow, Max Ramee. Arrangements are by the Kreidler Funeral Home of McAllen.
