Mrs. Annie Steen, 83, one of the most widely known residents of New Paltz, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Miss Edna Steen, in Patchogue, Long Island, after a long illness. Before she moved to Patchogue, Mrs. Steen had been a resident of New Paltz for 57 years.
She was the widow of the late Ira Steen. Mrs. Steen was born in Alligerville, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Hannah Hopper Davis. She was a member of the Reformed Church of New Paltz and the Ladies' Aid Society of that church. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Fred DeWitt, of Passaic, New Jersey.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 18, at 3:30 from the V. T. Pine and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerret J. Wullschleger, pastor of the Reformed Church, officiating. Burial was in New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
