Funeral services for Mrs. Alvah H. Deyo were held in New Paltz Monday afternoon, March 2, in the historic Reformed Dutch Church of which she had been a member since childhood. Burial was in the family plot at the New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
Mrs. Deyo was the daughter of the late Hiram W. and Frances (Freer) Minard who were life long residents of the Town of New Paltz. Much of her education was obtained at the New Paltz Normal and Training School and upon graduation she entered the profession of teaching in the public schools of Ossining, N.Y.
In 1902, she was married to Alvah H. Deyo of Highland, N.Y. Mr. and Mrs. Deyo resided in New York city where Mr. Deyo has been engaged in the wholesale fruit and commission business since boyhood.
Mrs. Deyo is survived by her husband, also a sister, Mrs. Arthur L. Berger of Syracuse, N.Y., and two brothers, Ira D. Minard of Newburgh, N.Y. and Perry Minard of New Paltz.
The funeral services were attended by many relatives and friends of the deceased and the large number of beautiful floral tributes attested something of the love and esteem with which the wide circle of friends cherished her memory.
The Rev. Gerret Wullschleger, pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church of New Paltz was in charge of the funeral services, assisted by the Rev. Arthur L. Berger of the Elmwood Presbyterian Church of Syracuse, N.Y. Mrs. D.C. Seward presided at the organ.
