Mrs. Nathan VanWagenen died at her home in this village at about nine o'clock on Sunday morning. She suffered a severe stroke of paralysis on Friday afternoon at the meeting of the W.C.T.U. which was held at the residence of the Misses Elting, directly across the street from Mrs. VanWagenen's own residence. She had just read a paper when she was observed to sink forward in her seat. She soon became unconscious and remained so until her death. Mrs. VanWagenen was nearly 71 years of age and she and her husband had lived happily together for nearly half a century and next October would have brought their golden wedding. The family has been residents of our village for about 20 years and had previously resided at Plutarch. No one has been held in higher esteem. Mrs. Van Wagenen has joined with her husband in Christian work with Zeal and activity.
Besides her husband she leaves three sons: Eugene, a merchant in this village, William, deputy postmaster at New Paltz, Albert, who is in business in Brooklyn; also one daughter Elizabeth, wife of Charles Perrine of Brooklyn. The funeral was held at the Reformed church on Wednesday afternoon.
