Mrs. Mary Jane Welsh, 83, and who had spent her entire life in the vicinity of this city, passed away in death at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Clinton, 1124 N. Spring street, at 12:53 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Death followed an illness of eleven weeks duration.
Mary Jane Swan was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Swan and was born in the town of Westford in this county, September 9th, 1853. Sixty-seven years ago she was united in marriage to Peter Welsh, who preceded her in death in 1912. For many years she had made her home in the town of Lowell, coming to Beaver Dam to reside with her daughter, eleven weeks ago.
Surviving are the following children; Charles Welsh of this city; Peter Welsh of the town of Westford; Ewald Welsh of Effington, Kans.; Arthur Welsh of the town of Westford; Harry Welsh of the town of Beaver Dam; Mrs. William Clinton, this city; William Welsh of the town of Westford; Mrs. Fred Birkholz of the town of Lowell; Mrs. Arthur Wrenn of Chicago; and Roland Welsh of this city. Twenty-one grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Emma Richards, Effington, Kans., and one brother, Edward Swan of Nebraska also survive.
Funeral services were held at the Briese & Heilmann funeral home at two o'clock Monday afternoon with interment in Oakwood cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Shelhart.
