Charlotte Ann Holloway

SNOW HILL — Charlotte Ann Holloway, 79, of Snow Hill passed Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at the Snow Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Berlin, a daughter of the late Howard J. Warren and Mary Nelson Shockley.

Charlotte Ann graduated from Snow Hill High School, where she is remembered as a standout basketball player. While she worked as a bookkeeper for many years for the family farm, her favorite job was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and loved baking applesauce cakes and sweet pone to share with family and friends. She was a longtime member of Bates Memorial United Methodist Church in Snow Hill.

She was a very supportive community mom and stayed involved in the many activities that her children were associated with. She was one of the original members of the Snow Hill High Band Boosters and an enthusiastic supporter of the Snow Hill Little League and many other organizations. She had a love for all sports; however, tennis, University of Maryland basketball and golf were her favorites.

She is survived by a daughter, Jan Holloway Greaser of Laurel; three sons, Fred M. Holloway and his fiance, Cindy Smith, of Salisbury, Earl H. Holloway and his wife, Jean, of Newark and Lee W. Holloway and his wife, Dena, of Snow Hill; five grandchildren, Sharon Snell, Scott M. Holloway and his wife, Jessica, Kelley Holloway and her fianc?, Dean Wootten, Christopher Holloway and his wife, Rebecca, and Beth G. Fontaine; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece, Stephanie Henderson Robinson of Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald F. Holloway, who passed in 2008; a son, Glenn F. Holloway; a sister, Mildred "Millie" Elizabeth Warwick; a daughter-in-law, Diana E. Holloway; and two sons-in-law, H. Allen Palmer and William Greaser.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Spence Baptist Church in Snow Hill, where family and friends may call from 1-2 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth Elligson will officiate. Interment will follow the services in Bates Memorial Cemetery in Snow Hill.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Worcester County Sheriff's Office, c/o Dena Holloway for the Santa House Project, 1 W. Market St., Room 1001, Snow Hill, Md. 21863; or Bates Cemetery, c/o Debra Hambrick, 402 S. Morris St., Snow Hill, Md. 21863.
