Mary Lyn King

Longtime convenience store owner and operator Mary Lyn King, 72, of Paris died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Henry County Medical Center.

A memorial service is planned at 5 p.m. Wednesday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Steve Gallimore of Tennessee Valley Community Church will officiate. A private burial is planned later.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Born March 28, 1940, in Cottage Grove, she was a daughter of the late C.D. Smyth and Loretta Bell Colley Smith.

She owned and operated King's Stop and Go for more than 25 years. She was a member of Birds Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed gospel music, sporting events and spending time with her family.

Her father, C.D. Smyth, owned and operated Paris Dairy Co. and named Mary Lyn ice cream for her.

She leaves two sons: Steve King of Paris and Ronnie (Marijo) King of Nashville; one sister: Retta Jane Pool of Southaven, Miss.; five grandchildren: Patsy (Ralph) Russell, Brandi ("TK") Russell and Joey King, all of Paris, Kristi King of Puryear and Derek King of Iowa; eight great-grandchildren: Camryn, Jasmyn, Lauryn, Damien, Malaki, Nataya and Tierra Russell and Delaney King; a niece: Alicia Hughes of Lake Cormorant, Miss.; and a special friend: Peggy Castleman of Paris.

She also was preceded in death by a son: Richard "Dickie" King.

Donations in her name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis 38105.
