Cassandra Ellen "Sweet" Phillips of Waynesburg, formerly of Blacksville, WV died July 10, 1989 in Waynesburg after being seriously ill for eight weeks.

She was born in Garrison, PA, a daughter of Joseph A. and Cassandra Patterson Phillips.

She was a member of the Blacksville Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Blacksville High School and attended both West Virginia University and Fairmont (WV) College. She taught school for several years in Monongalia Co., WV.
She is survived by a sister, Olive (Phil) McAninch of Waynesburg with whom she made her home.

Deceased are five brothers, Edison B. Phillips, Marion Phillips, Joe Phillips, George L. Phillips, and Charles Phillips, and two sisters Bess Chalfant and Gaye Keener.--Observer-Reporter July 1989.
