Carl emigrated to this country at the age of 16 years. He initially lived with his uncle at Montaque, Michigan. On 18 July 1898 he and his wife Mary married in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He lived in Tomahawk for 31 years and served as an alderman for the 3rd ward. He was employed for 16 years as an agent for the George Ruder Brewing Company. He was survived by his wife, four daughters, and two sons. He was also survived by his parents and brothers in Germany.
