Mrs. VanSlyke was born at Phillips, Oregon on July 14, 1901. She was a past secretary of the Capitol Hill Community club and past president of the Capital Hill PTA.
Surviving are the widower, Charles Lee VanSlyke; three children, Mrs. Irma Potter, Lila E. and Charles L. VanSlyke Jr.; two brothers, E. F. and F.J. Toelle, all of Portland, and seven sisters, Mrs. Margaret Johnson, Mrs. Mary Meyer, Mrs. Ella Smoke, Mrs. Rhoda Landels, all of Portland, Mrs. Julia Kyle of Corbett, Mrs. Martha Raffety of Cornelius, and Mrs. Evangeline Moore of Tillamook.
