John Joseph Timmer was the son of Joseph Timmer and Mary Wengeler. He was the oldest child as his brother Joseph died before John was born. John was an engineer with the Great Northwestern RR joining his father Joseph with the company, who was always at the yard in Melrose.

John married Marie Ann Dirkes, daughter of Frederick Gerhart Dirkes and Anna Thoennes, at Albany, 6 Sep 1926.

They were the parents of 7 children, from oldest to youngest

John battle hodgkins lymphoma for a good many years finally passing away at age 50. His father Joseph who lived with the family passed away 5 days later, family story was that his heart was broken when his oldest son passed away.

I was always sorry that I never knew my grandfather John. I heard he was a most happy and loving man. Rest in peace grandpa!
