She was the daughter of the late Watt Roar and Ethel Mosier Roar of Grahn Ky. Mom was such a loving mother, as far back as I remember she took excellent care of all her kids, she cooked, cleaned, done laundry, raised a garden, canned food, kept the house clean and took care of us when we were sick and that was just a few of the things that she done for us. She taught us to respect other people and to treat them how we would want to be treated. She would get up every morning during school year (and build a fire when it was cold)and fix us breakfast before we went off to school. Mom was real strict on us about the way we treated our other siblings, we knew that if one of us caused trouble with another one, the one that started it got a switch took the them, there was no favoritism and the same went for us to if she let us go some where around the neighborhood for a certain amount of time, we better be back by the time she said to be back and not go any where else or we knew what to expect. A funny thing about it was the one who was going to get a switch took to them wasn't allowed to go outside to get their own switch, someone else had to get it and when I was told to go get one for my older brother I would get the stiffest limb and leave little stubs sticking out all over it (you can imagine the look on my brothers face) but Mom would just make me go get a smaller one without the stubs, and I honestly can say that we deserved it every time cause she would never whip us for nothing, that was her last resort. We all loved Mom with all our hearts and all of us respected her cause we knew she loved us and was only learning us to get along with ourselves and others. She has told me several times over the years that we all was really good kids and that she never had the problems with us like a lot of other people had to deal with. There is so many good memories of the things she did for us while we were growing up. She has left this world now, but she has left us with so many memories of how much she loved us and all the years she spent taking care of us and not once asking for nothing in return, but she knew how much we loved her and that was all she needed to know.
