Fergus is the son of Josiah Snoddy & Margaret Clough
He joined Co D 115th IN Vol Inf at 15. After the Civil War, He joined Co G 18th Inf and served for 3 yrs in the Western Frontier. He served with Gen Carrington, traveling Tthe Rocky Mountain country.
He came to Dade Co in 1868, married in 1872. He learned the Harness trade as a young man. He and Martha had 8 children. On his 312 acre farm he was a stock raiser & farmer. A republican. He was a member of Everton Lodge AF & AM and Everton Post 369 GAR
