Alfred J. Wood was born July 5, 1927 in Deep Water, MO, the son of Charles William and Nancy Olive (Bailey) Wood. He entered into rest on Dec. 7, 2012 at Freeman Neosho Hospital, following a three month illness. Alfred moved to Neosho in 1969 from Pittsburg, KS and worked for many years as head groundskeeper of MSSU in Joplin. He was of the Jehovah Witness Faith. Alfred married LaWanda G. Smith Wood on April 23, 1951 at Independence, MO and she preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2012. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Willey and husband, Patrick of Everett, WA and Lisa Willis and husband, Mark of Neosho; six grandchildren, Andrea Booker, Sean Willey, Shannon Willey, April Weems, Nathan Willis and Isaac Willis; fourteen great grandchildren and a sister, Gladys Dunning of Clinton, MO.
