In Memorium of Mrs. Rosa Lester

As the leaves of Autumn were turning to purple and gold and genly and softly dropping to their eternal reste, as the spirit of our dear sister, Mrs. Rosa Lester, quietly and peacefully winged its flight from the tenement of clay, in which it had been dwelling for the past 68 years to the realms of eternal bliss.

About three weeks ago she sustained a severe fall that fractured one of her limbs, and had been confined to her bed up to last Wednesday, Oct. 11, when just twenty-five minutes past high noon she quietly breathed her last. She was at the home of her son-in-law John May, where she had the close and constant attention of her daughter.

Funeral serviced were conducted by her life-long friend G. P. Mayo in Little Brown Creek Church. She was laid to rest in this cemetery by a large concourse of sorrowing friends Saturday, October 14th. She was the widow of the late C. C. Lester, who preceded her to the better world several years ago. She raised ten children to maturity, seven of them still living.

She was known throughout the neighborhood and surrounding County as one of the sweetest of spirits. Her chief delight was ministering to the needs of others, and doing all in her power to alleviate suffering and distress. The weather never was too cold or too hot, day or night, for her to respond to the call of her neighbors. She was always bright and cheerful and radiated sunshine all along her pathway. She had long been a consistent member of the Christian Church. She was a devoted and loyal wife and mother. She will be sadly missed in the home of her children, in her church, and by her many friends.

Our lives have been made richer and better by her presence in our midst. But we sorrow not as one without hope, for just as sure as the leaves come again on the trees in the spring time, we shall see her again. She has gone to join her life companion and her Redeemer. It can be truthfully said of her as of Mary in the Bible, "she had done what she could."

Let us emulate her example and cherish her memory and strive to meet her in the sweet Haven of Rest.
