In Memoriam. Departed this life on Monday morning, 11th April 1892, at the residence of her son, Rev. J. Perry Drake in Shubuta, Clarke Co., Miss., Mrs. Susan P. H. Drake, relict of Rev. Dr. Drake, of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mrs. Drake was born at the old family home of her father, the late Capt. J. T. Magruder near Church Hill, Jefferson Co., Miss. on April 2nd 1811 and was consequently eighty one years and nine days old at the time of her death, a period far beyond the " 3 score years and ten" allotted as the common limit of human life.
Mrs. Drake was educated at "The Elizabeth College", Washington, Adams Co., Miss., of which institution her husband was subsequently president. She was married to Mr. Drake 4th Oct. 1827.
As he issue of this marriage there were born 8 sons and 4 daughters. Of this large family only 2 survive, to wit; E. Steele Drake of Port Gibson and Rev. J. Perry Drake of Shubuta, both of whom are well known and highly esteemed.
