Lyle Edwin McWilliams was born in Niles, Michigan and grew up at 1024 Dan Street in Akron, Ohio. He attended Forest Hill Elementary School in Akron and graduated from Akron's North High School in June of 1936.

Lyle entered the military service on 02/04/1941 in the U.S.
Army, was a Staff Sergeant in Company K, 145th Infantry Regiment, 37th "Buckeye" Infantry Division · Service # 35007884.

He was killed In Action May 05, 1945 by Japanese snipers on Luzon Island in the Philippines. His remains were returned from the Pacific Theater in September 1948 on board the transport ship Sergeant Morris E. Crain. Buried at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles, MI.
He was twenty-seven years old at the time of his death.
