Cannon, Jimmy L. (Jim) – age 79 of Strawberry Plains went to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 9, 2012. He was a member of Holston Baptist Church for 64 years; and retired from Stokes Electric Company after 33 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Earl and Marie Cannon; and brothers, Gordon and Max Cannon. A loving husband, daddy, papaw, brother, and friend; he is survived by his devoted and faithful wife of 61 years, Ruth Lusk Cannon; daughter, Janet Bragg (Jim); son, Mike Cannon (Verlyn); grandsons, Mark Bragg (Jenn) and Ethan Cannon (Chelsea); great grandchildren, Allie Bragg and Eli Cannon; brothers, Kenneth Cannon (Jean), Wayne Cannon (June), Harry Cannon (Delores); sisters, Jane Rule, Earlene Tuggle, and Sue Haggard (A.C.); and special cousin, Vivian Carter. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary Roberts, RN, and Lisa Byrge, CMA of Avalon Hospice for their kindness and compassion. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Bridges Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Arthur Pedigo officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for a graveside service officiated by Rev. Larry Young.
