Mr. Orval Colbaugh of Stafford, VA, formerly of Brandywine, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 10, 2012. Born in Childress, Texas, on May 27, 1923, he was the son of Nola Meadows Bailey and Louie Delmer Colbaugh. In addition to his parents, Orval was pre-deceased by his brother, Fred, of Odessa, Texas.

Mr. Colbaugh is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Finney Colbaugh of Stafford, daughters Lynda Lester Raitala of Morristown, TN and Patti Rodis (Glenn) of San Diego, CA, grandchildren Dawn Colyer (Stephen), Staci McIlwain (Scott) and Michelle Milgazo (Steve), 6 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Colbaugh was a WWII veteran and served his country proudly and honorably, first in the Army/Air Corps and then in the United States Air Force for 20 years, with assignments in the United States, Japan and England. In 1963 he was honored at Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington, D.C. with the award of a Commendation Medal for outstanding service. After retirement from the military, he worked as a transmission specialist in the Transportation Department for the Prince George's County Public School System in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, until his final retirement in 1985.

With his outgoing, friendly manner, Orval made many friends throughout his life and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He died as he lived, quietly and with dignity. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
