The stone says NICEDEMUS but believe this is not correct.
Nicedemus is such a rare spelling that for someone searching for this family, we have listed it under Nicodemus.
The family name in the records is spelled NICODEMUS.

Newspaper:
Martinsburg Herald Blair County PA 1905
Mrs. Joseph NICODEMUS, whose maiden name was Catharine Elizabeth KNIPPLE and who was a native of Bedford County, died at her home in Marion, Iowa October 24th.
[the notice in the Martinsburg Herald of Blair Co. is probably because the Nicodemus family had a large presence there. Blair Co. PA is next to Bedford Co. PA-the Knipple family lived in the Napier Twp. & St. Clair Twp. area of Bedford Co. PA which has the towns of Schellsburg, New Paris, & Spring Hope.]

Obituary
Thurs 2 Nov. 1905 Marion Sentinel
[Thank you CJeanealogy]
One of eight children [of John H. Knipple & Elizabeth Hull].
Catharine Elizabeth Knipple was married to Joseph Nicodemus on 29 Feb. 1863 in Pennsylvania [Napier Twp. Bedford Co. PA probably by the minister of the Hull Free Will Baptist Church in New Paris] & came west in 1864.
She was born 24 Oct. 1842 [the first child of John H. Knipple & Elizabeth Hull & probably named after her grandmother Catharine Elizabeth Winegardner Hull] and was from a family of eight [We have only been able to identify seven].

Towns near where she would have been born are New Paris & Schellsburg in Napier Twp. Bedford Co. PA & just over the township line would be the village of Spring Hope in St. Clair Twp. now divided into East St. Clair Twp.
Napier Twp. was at one time a part of St. Clair Twp.
The road that Spring Hope is located on leads to Fishertown which was the center of the Quaker area and Dunnings Creek MM.
