Fred E. Barnsback, 816 Prickett Ave., a retired state highway maintenance patrolman, died this morning at 12:45 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, where he had been a patient two weeks. He was 76 years old.
Mr. Barnsback had farmed in Pin Oak Township for 20 years, after which he moved to Edwardsville where he resided the past 40 years. He had been employed by the Illinois Highway Maintenance Department for 16 years.
Born May 20, 1887, he was a son of the late Fred J. and Kate Vinyard Barnsback of Pin Oak Township. He was married Feb. 11, 1914 in Edwardsville by the late Rev. H.U. Rahn to Miss Bertha Bayer, who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Earl J. of this city; two grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Earl (Myrtle) Herrin of Edwardsville. One brother died in infancy.
The body may be viewed at the Lesley Marks funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday until the services Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Paul Stange, interim pastor of Eden United Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
